These things

Found these in a bottom of a craftsman toolbox I got, most was just hammers an screwdrivers and a few wrenches. Mainly vintage an a few newer things. But what are these things?

More likely the size to hold test tubes;  last time I used one for its intended purpose was H.S. chemistry. (add sodium metal to water, capture the released hydrogen gas in a latex balloon, & hold a lit match to the balloon)  Modern safety concerns mean students no longer can manipulate sodium metal, or mix the right acids and bases to generate enough chlorine gas to bleach a cottonwood tree.

I have seen similar brackets to hold pipe to metal  joists temporally while welding  bob w.

Yep!  I'll third the motion - Those ar apparatus clamps to hold chemistry equipment via a ring stand or support frame.  Bella Lugosi used a lot of 'em! The thumbscrew end clamps to a vertical (usually) 3/8 steel rod; the opposite end holds the instrument of choice (test tube, flask, cylinder, etc.)
make good "third hands" for welding; wife uses 'em as plant stands...

Because they had to be someplace and they weren't welcome in the pantihose drawer after the snagging incident.
