Habitat Restore / Todays finds.
« on: August 25, 2017, 11:03:30 PM »
Went to the Habitat Restore again today. Their wrench bin is over a foot deep. Today I took the time to go to the bottom by putting lots of the wrenches in the pliers bin that was next to it. Total cost for what you see was $24.00 plus tax. 18 of the wrenches were 50 cents each. The large screwdriver was a $1.00 as was the pliers. The nails were  $1.00 a box and the other items were less than a dollar each. The like new ratcheting wrench is a Indestro model 0702. The pliers are not marked. 2 of the little like new wrenches are Wizard metric ones. The line wrench is a OTC with some rust. 1 of the Craftsman wrenches was made in Japan. The largest is a like new Proto, a Williams like new and a nice Vlchek combo.

If we had a store like that around here, I'd be there every day probably.  I just looked them up, and there's half a dozen within 2 hrs. of me, all in towns I go to occasionally.  Unfortunately, none in the half an hour or less category.  Next time I'm in one of the cities listed, I'm doing some shopping at one of the stores.

From the looks of things, you did well.

Nice job evil. You've been killin that store lately.
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.

When I find big amounts of good tools there, I know another old man has died.  I have told my family when I die they are going to have to work for their inheritance.

Nice catch.   Thanks for sharing (and making us all jealous).   The Restore I volunteer at gets some tools in, but it's usually the beat up remnants of what someone had (although i was just using a made in usa Nicholson file the other day...that was sweet).

I was shopping there yesterday along with many other people. Got 2 Craftsman sockets in 3/8 drive and a 3/8 drive Cornwell impact socket. Also a small can of pipe joint compound. A small like new no name rat tail file. A Wards Riverside battery charger. A grand total of $9.50 plus tax. I did not get into the store til around 12.00 o'clock and if there was any other good stuff, it was already gone. They get lots of files there, but most are dull and been laying in the backyard since Reagan was president. They did have a box of new arch type gasket punches in 1/8 to 1 inch in size, but for $30.00 I passed on them.

We don't say they died.

One guy was returning from a two weeks trip.  He stopped by to check in with a friend, who had been taking care of his dog and looking in on his wife.

The traveler asked "How's my dog?"  The friend replied "Your dog died."
In a bit of a shock, the dogs owner said "You can't just blurt something like that out. First you say something like 'Your dog's on the roof.   But then he fell off. Unfortunately, the fall was pretty bad and now your dog has moved on to a better place,'"

His buddy nodded his understanding.  The returning guy then inquired about his wife.

The now informed friend replied, "She's on the roof......"

After Mrs. Chilly told me that joke,  everytime we went to an estate sale she would say "He must be in the roof."

The first few times she said it I asked her why he would be up there. Eventually I caught on.
