Another what is it for you!

I'm kinda smirking cause this one is a tough one! it is about 3' long, the blue washers have nothing to do with it, they with the screws hold it on the wall near my sheet metal bench along with some other old tools. American made by a well-known tool maker for their  field. What is it and what does it do?

Doesn't have a patent date but they would have been used from the teens thru the 30's and faded away

could it be a leaf spring spreader for the old cars with transverse springs

sorta warm it is automotive but not a spring spreader. But I think this company made one!

It's not a toe in gauge but the company made one of them too, is used on the body but not on the order of a port-o-power.  How is that for a hint?  Clear as mud?

not used under the hood, it is 30-36" long  the threads will allow for it to pull in or push out by rotating the center as the ends are clamped to the _______

Something to do with setting or adjusting or moving mechanical brakes from under the car?  Like it would clamp to the rods?

nothing to do with brakes or any of the running gear, not a electrical gizzmo either.
