SK wrench year of productions. help
« on: September 10, 2013, 05:54:40 PM »
I recently purchased some older SK wrenches. These tools are still in original packaging. UN-opened.
I would like to know the approximate year that these wrenches were produced. ..?
Thanks everyone!
Micah

Dresser bought them in 1968, and sold them to Facom in 1985
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Thanks rusty. I appreciate the response. I do know the years which Dressler owned SK. I am wondering if these wrenches are 60's, 70's, or 80's.
I am also wondering if these are worth more (to a collector) because they are still in original packaging. I purchased these from a retired SK salesman who worked for SK during these years.
I have a 7pc set of these 5/16 to 11/16.

The Franklin Park address precludes the 1960s as they did not move there until 1971.

Can you make out any specific vehicles pictured on the packaging that would push the date later than 1971?

I would not imagine anyone would pay much of a premium for the NOS, but who knows?

Thank you for that info. I did not think to look at the vehicles. They definitely look 1970's

Also, most things had bar codes by 1980...tho not everything....

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I have had lots of luck recently with NOS SK.  I mainly had socket and ratchet sets.  Try them on ebay, and post a link here.  I would love to see what they go for.  I doubled or tripled my money on the sets I sold.

thank you. I purchased a bunch of NOS last week. From a former SK employee. I was only planning on buying a wrench set that I needed but I ended up buying everything he had. I have most of it listed on ebay right now. Some pretty cool sets. I would actually love to keep it all but I need to get most of my investment back.
Here's a link to my ebay store. http://stores.ebay.com/Maplestone-Ornamentals
I'm a big fan of Sk so I am sort of sad to sell this stuff. haha

You got nice stuff there.  You should do well.  I spent about $1200 on NOS Sk.  Sold half made my money back and got to keep the best stuff.
