Rare ALEXANDER flea market find

I only know of one that's sold at auction. To find this one today was like winning the wrench lottery. I found the other a couple years ago. To have both versiobs is quite a deal. They made horse drawn manure spreaders in 1914.

If I had to guess id say the bottom one. The box end cracks easily on these. They're the same style as a South Bend plow co wrench.

 Fantastic find Why don't flea markets around here have this kind of ggodie. Rathbone vol II has picture of their spreader and says it was to spread limestone. Guess manure and limestone both improved soil.

You are correct Jim. I assume that maybe they spread manure as well. I know Ive never seen on show up on Fee-bay in several years of looking. The first one was a $4 find in Claremore, Oklahoma. The second was a $6 find in Carthage, MO. Pretty happy with my $10 investment. My best find still has to be the $17 John Deere King Corn Silo spud wrench in a Lamar, MO store. I look at it and laugh pretty regular.

I find wrenches similar to these a lot. And almost invariable there is a at least one broken tooth. Sometimes by a little, sometimes half the mouth of one end is missing. but it's a bit of a downer for me that I have never found one in good shape. nice finds.
