5 rusty wrenchs
« on: May 04, 2013, 02:19:25 PM »
5Rusty wrenchs were wired together at auction thurs evening. Recognized shape of one to be BluePoint. asked ring man to sell them and my freeze out $2 bid held up. Alas when I cleaned them up the Blue Point was brazed together but the Snap-On XV3440 turned out to be in better shape although someone had incised a Southern Railway marking. The Plumb 1150 was a pleasant surprise;the Williams was in good shape but not something special. The Proto was unusual in that it had a pebble finish around size designation. Don't recall seeing this before but don't collect Proto. Maybe early Proto after change from Plumb ? These wrenchs were rusty and crusty prior to cleanup which may explain the 40 cents each price.

Right I was probably thinking of a hammer. It was a plomb.

Those SOs are gorgeous.

I made an offer on a pristine Made-in-Canada set available locally just this week. It's the full, 19-piece set up to 1-5/8" (with one small wrench missing), but I doubt I'll get them. They're a steal at the guy's ask, but I just don't have the spare $ right now & have no need of the large sizes. Still, I'm very tempted...
