Stubby Bonney 3/8" Drive Ratchet
« on: July 05, 2011, 04:48:05 AM »
This is an old purchase, but wondered if anyone had seen a Bonney Ratchet modified/mutilated as this one has been.  It's actually quite useful, but the steel sleeve added on by someone makes it a bit heavy for long term use.  Still canb't tell if that sleeve was pressed on there or epoxied.

TIA

I have a Husky 3/8 ratchet, made in the USA, that someone else made a real nice "stubby" out of. It has a really thick head, over an inch.
After lubing it up and thoroughly cleaning the innards, it works flawlessly now.
I found it at a garage sale. I use it often now.

It looks like a handy length. I like it.
I would take an angle grinder or regular grinder or belt grinder, and remove about 2/3 of the steel in the sleeve and it'll sleek down right nicely.

And, the Bonney being a dual see-saw pawl design makes it extra tough, so you'll have NO worries about stripping the head out with a stubby handle.

If repair parts for those 702's are as hard to get as it appears, I'll keep the stubby in case the regular length 3/8" Bonney ever fails........
