BMW Deep Impact Socket...Factory Specialty tool?
« on: October 16, 2012, 06:42:19 PM »
I Found this Socket in with a Bunch of Snap On Sockets, It Looked Strange to me in a Pleasant Way!

Looks to be a Impact Spark Plug Style Deep Socket!

Markings Are:

BMW - 12 1160 - W. Germany - 18 - 11/16

The Overall Look and Feel of the Socket is Snap on, But its Not Stamped Snapon...anyone seen one like this Before?

I havn't seen that particular one, but the pattern is familiar, it is a lugnut socket for alloy rims with recessed nuts. The ribbed rings are supposed to hold a plastic sleeve to protect the rim (they fall off after you use the socket three or four times)

I would guess factory tool, most casual automobile owners don't have impact guns lying around...

(When you need an impact socket to get the spark plug out, you are well beyond what factory service can help with ;P)

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
