Batting .333 on Thursday Yard Sales
« on: June 24, 2011, 04:08:56 AM »
Went 2 for 6 on Thursday with most of what's in picture #1 at one sale for $5 and picture # 2 and #3 were just up the street for $10 along with a set of 4 old oil cans and 4 new chainsaw or snowmobile tool kits.  I may need a bit of help ID ing some of this stuff.  TIA troops!!

Photo #1
Soldering irons are an Electric Materials #3 and a Detroit #2.The blue hacksaw has a "DB" in small print on it and a Simonds blade.  NO clue who made it. The other hacksaw is really old, but no markings unless they're under all that corrosion. The brush is a Warline 5110(?)  Any idea what this was spozed to be used for back in the day?  Below it looks like some sort of spatula, but not sure what it was used for.  Blade is very thin.  Of the 4 wrenches in the bottom left only the bottom one has any markings and they are either an SP1 or a 106..  Is the bottom item what they call a "pin" vise?  Finally, the upper right keyhole saw had no markings.  Any help with IDing it?  The nob holding the blade in seemed unique to me.

Photo #2.  The top row was all no namers.  The second row started with the Utica 513-7 pliers followed by the broken auto wrench.  It says something like Astmay or Ustmay and then carbon steel 28 if that helps any. Then a Handy Andy,  Fairmont Cleveland, VlChek 2D 3592, Duro Chrome 1723, H in the diamond(Herbrand?) 25, a W&B 725 and then a P inside a circle with a W under it.

Bottom right is a set of 4 box end wrenches with just"forged in USA" and they are pretty light weight. Cadmium plating maybe??  Photo #4 is a closeup of the logo.

Photo #3  An A 130_ _ EMF Co. Deere(?).  The monkey wrench has a CMS stamped on it and the crest with the V and T inside it.  Vlchek maybe??  The silo wrench says Western Silo Des Moines Iowa and the other side says Champion Silo on it.

Gotta go to bed now....

The thing that "looks like a spatula" is a spatula.  Not common these days, but I have a couple of this kind of spatula and find them very useful, especially in things like turning omelets.

The brush looks like the pattern of brushes used with stencils.

The EMF Wrench is a hubcap wrench for a car.  Does it say deere on it.  Emf eventually was merged with Studebaker.  Your monkey wrenech is vlcheck and may have the top Ground down. ??????  I have never seen on like it.

Thanks,
Kirk.

The emf wrench had some grinding marks like it might've been welded up with the other end from another wrench.  The letters forming the word deere are not totally visible, so I wonder.  Thanks for the info.  I have a Studebaker Hub cap from like the mid 60's that's in cherry condition. It's pretty cool.

Thanks for the feedback.
