Latest Auto Tool buys
« on: September 13, 2012, 11:10:35 AM »
Here's a few pieces I just got. Thought you would enjoy looking at them

The Sun light is a Model 45, in near new Condition , and it Works.

The lever action Rim Spreader is adjustable and has a Cast iron handle.

The valve compressor isn't real special , but I was wondering if these came in tool kits?

I love those Bakelite Suns, they are real "art Deco"

LM,

The valve spring tools were generally sold in the aftermarket.  They are typically auto mechanics tools and very seldom an vehicle owners tools.  They are to specialized and way beyond the scope of OEM tool kits.

Can you describe the rims that a spreader would be needed for?  I've never heard of this tool.

I also have that screw type spreader shown in that article.
I saw a reference too a valve spring compressor that came with a Jeep tool kit, but no others

The spreaders are used on demountible rims to pull the rim away from the tire, and than push it back into shape so you can inflate it and reattach to the wooden wheel.

The demountable rims, think of a split-rim truck wheel, sort of the next generation, wish I had a tool for those in the day.

LM, Nice Tools..

Skipskip, Thank you!!
Great link to model T's, good reading & very informative.

I Looked for Model T clubs in hawaii, none listed??
as I found several Model T tools (PLOMB #4410, #6509, #6507, etc.)
thought they would be interested.
