WANTED: Irwin Chalkine
« on: March 01, 2012, 03:01:37 PM »
I had a old irwin metal case chalkline but needless to say I dont have it. I went out and bought a Dewalt chalkine from the store and its a cheap piece of garbage. All plastic, the gear when winding it up is worn out now so the crank dont work. The next time I bought a new Irwin chalkine and I go to snap the line an the line is all frayed and not just does it struggle winding back in it doesnt leave a thin line.

I normally see chalkines at the pawn shops all the time, no such luck this past week or so.

Anyway

If anyone has a Older Iwrin chalkine just PM me and we can work out shipping and tell me what you want for it. Must be a older irwin chalkine like the one on the left side of the picture in the link.

It is not an Irwin, but I have a NIB Evans aluminum one running as an Ebay auction.  The link is below.  I have never used this particular style, as I am partial to the Straitline ones (are those Irwin?  You would think I would know).

Straightline=Irwin

FYI - Upon looking today, even a later model of the Straightline have a bunch of unwarranted plastic mess on the reel assembly.  I hadn't noticed that before.
