At this stage in the game, verifying would be difficult, but with the (41), and (44) numbers on these, and the gov. propensity to date things, I'd feel safe saying these were war time.
John, just for general information, 41 is not a date, but rather a category ( hand tools)in their listing stockage sistem.
So we have quite a bunch of tools with the 41 number.
Exemple 41-W- 486 is a crescent type adjustable, were
W stands for wrench, and 486 is the number. W 487 would be the bigger size of same.
41-S-1076 is
S, screwdriver, 1076....
41-S-1078 is
S, screwdriver, but bigger size...
We find a bunch of different letters after the 41: H for hammer or handle, P for pliers,C for compressor,etc. etc.
