The socket reads, in two lines (the quotes are not part of the text),
"WRIGHT 83820"
"PLOMB mADe U-S-A"
with the "PLOMB" having the usual inverted triangle "O" and bracketed by two downward-pointing arrows; and the "mADe" being top-justified, by which I mean the top of each letter is in a horizontal line, with the "AD" hanging down.
It's a 1/2" drive socket, with a roughly 7/16" cross hole just below the square drive. Below the cross hole is a knurled area 1" long (light diamond knurling). Total length 5-1/2". 12-point 7/8" socket, broached about 1" deep, and circular after that. About 3" from the socket end, the inner diameter steps down very slightly. I'm told this is a wartime (World War II) tool. Pictures might be attached, although I'm new to this site and having trouble sorting out how to attach pictures.
