Garvins tool ???
« on: December 27, 2011, 10:14:45 AM »
I have a tool sort of like a snap ring plier with adjustable stop screw and two pairs of rotating 3/16" pins on end.
Marked only "Garvins U.S.A." I have no idea.

My guess is that it is some sort of watch case holder. I found a Garvins that makes all sorts of tools, and this item is most like this one http://www.garvintools.com/index.cfm?md=Products&sd=ProductDetails&CategoryID=20&SubCategoryID=57&ProductID=405

Thanks, I looked for Garvins instead of Garvin, so I didn't find that tool maker. My only question is these apply pressure outward and the ones on the Garvin site apply pressure to outside of case inward. Maybe these are to hold on inside of case???

They might be another version of the castration band tool!

I thought the same, Papaw, but most of those tend to stretch the band in all four directions. This thing looks like it only opens up bigger one way.

Stumped on this one, can't find anything else like it.

They go on the outside. Look at the spring and thumbscrew.  (The thumbscrew is not a stop, it's a clamp....)

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

When squeezed, jaws with pins open outward, and screw stops them from opening but so far. Spring returns them to closed position.
