Beer Joint- Good looing Redhead- Could I say NO?
« on: December 02, 2011, 05:12:44 PM »
I have a buddy that lives out in the county, and to see him, I have to go out to a little beer joint in Liverpool, Texas to find him.
Pulling into the parking lot, a good looking redhead pulls up and yells out-
"You the guy with the crazy old tools???"

Of course I can't say no, since whenever I go there, I always have some tool in my pocket to show the folks that gather there. They expect it of me.

The redhead has a tool she has found and wants to know what it is. It is about 9" long, with a wooden handle, shaft cranked a bit. Doesn't look like anything that had been sharpened. It is a forging, but I found no markings on it at all.

Might be more inclined to help if I could see a picture of said "good-looking redhead"...

Guessing, looks like a foundry tool for pulling slag off molten metal...
(I don't know what they call that tool)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

No residue. The coloration is oxidation, and/or overexposure in the photo.

Sand casting tool sounds plausible.

No pictures of the redhead, sorry.

Of course you couldn't say no!  There is the question about the photos, though.  We know why you posted the pictures of the tool, but lbgradwell does raise the question about why the Redhead didn't have a picture posted too.

Gotta be careful about having certain photos on my camera. The wife has been known to use it also.
I'll have to admit that I didn't look at her too much, after all there was a What's-it to look at!

That's my guess too Rusty, it would fit in well with a blow torch collection. That good looking redhead want to bring it down under?

I agree with Rusty and Batz. I seen something similar used to remove slag from recycled babbit prior to pouring bearings.
