don't know that marking and it's not all really clear

You will kick yourself...  the stamping quality is not the best but the first two letters are CR.

According to the Sears website from some years back (now in the Wayback Machine), this logo was used from the 1930s-1950s.

Nice looking chisel.

thanks for that info.   the way it was stamped the C was not that remarkable and the rest didn't fit with craftsman....
