I don't know who made them.  Theres a Handy Tool & Mfg. Co. Inc. in Brooklyn starting 1948.  A search of that address shows a flea market/thrift shop.
I have two 1/2 inch micrometers and the Handy is much nicer than the much cheaper no name one which is mostly cast zinc or zamac.

Handy 1/2" Micrometer. I have one too, looks like Al may have the luxury model with the ratchet stop?

It may be a later model but definely not deluxe.  Its a "fake" ratchet stop.  It does help to spin it faster, but no ratchet.  On either of the mics I posted.

the site administrator, Mark Stansbury, has been uploading stuff like mad recently since receiving his new scanner. you might want to check back oftent there.

you might want to check out this as a reference source as well: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/list-of-manufacturers-and-brands-of-mechanics-hand-tools.491667/

(most up-to-date copy of list will be at the last post of that thread.)
