Drill bushing needed.

I collect and work on old small engines. Mostly cast iron block engines. Most of these small engines use 5/16 x 18 bolts to fasten the cylinder head to the block. Sometimes these engines will have broken head bolts that always seem to break flush with the block surface so no grabbing them with Vice Grips to remove them. Taking the block tp have a machine shop to remove them is too costly. Years ago our good friend and mentor Okie Custer had a full set of drill guide bushing just for doing this kind of work. Our friend passed away in 2000 and all his stuff has hauled to the dump by his ^*#@& kid. The bushing I need has to have a outside diameter 21/64th and a inside diameter of appox  1/8 inch but that can very a little. I have search the web with no luck. The height should be at least a inch long, but a little longer would be ok. Our friends set had about 30 different size bushings. Somebody must still make them. I belong to 4 different small antique engine collector sites and other members need them also.

I believe you would have shared if you knew, but I will ask anyway.  Do you know or have a guess at who made them?

The only way to find out the name would for me to contact Sherman and Mr. Peabody and get in their WABAC machine and travel back thru time about 40 years. That is the last time I saw Okie Custer use the drill bushings to drill out a broken head bolt on our other friends 1947 Dodge 5 ton truck. I am probably going to have to go to a machine shop and have them make me one. I am going to check and see how much it would cost to get a bunch of the made as other members in the old engines are having the same problems with broken head bolts. I thinking a machine shop would use a screw machine to make these.

I have tried all the major tool venders for that type of tool and there was a lot. I will message Plyerman. Thanks for the tip.

I sent a PM to Plyerman and I ordered a bushing from Mcmaster-Carr. It will be a little sloppy in the hole, but I will use some shim stock to tighten it up and try it on a junk block before using it on a good on. Thank you all for your replies. You have been helpful.

Probably not a screw machine unless you want a few hundred of each size minimum.
