Blohm Tool Chain Indicator Holder
« on: July 14, 2020, 03:08:14 PM »
Found this in a box from an estate sale some years ago.
Chain indicator holder (Not magnetic) for mounting an indicator to align direct driven equipment to the driver. Appears to be unused.

I wonder if it has any value.
Look at pictures.

Hello, Papaw. That is a cool looking tool. I have never seen one before, so I won't guess at value. Here is a link for a current Starrett Chain Indicator Holder.

They are a good tool. Back in the mid 90s our company built a MDF plant which had lots of direct drive couplings. At the recommendation of our head millwright we bought at least 2 and maybe 3 of these, I not sure but I think they were Starrett. They worked well and were still in decent condition when we retired. We gave them along with quite a few smaller tools to some of our top men. I think we had 2 different sizes but I would think yours should be worth at least $50. We retired in 2008 so I don't know how accurate my estimate is. Good luck with it, someone on ebay should jump on it. Jim.

Don't find any Blohm on Ebay either for sale or sold. Lots of Starrett, and almost all are magnetic base.

Never seen one of those before, but I remember a bunch of times I could have used one. Had times when dealing with brass and even aluminum and mag bases were worthless, had to rig up a big C clamp to hold the indicator for me.

Is it worth anything? I don't have a use for it, but don't want to just give it away.

New ones now range in the $300s, I would ask at least $100.  Too bad I can't use them anymore.
