TRASH NIGHT FINDS
« on: August 16, 2018, 09:39:02 PM »
A friend of mine stopped by and asked me to help me put some scrap metal into his truck. There was a hot water heater , a few air conditioners , and a bunch of copper & aluminum. A nice haul for scrap. In a box at the same place was some tool treasures I just couldn't leave there.  I don't understand why folks would toss this stuff out. This is what I found :

1. Genuine Plumb Boy Scout hatchet in the original sheath. It's ripped but still there.

2. Grove Tool Works hatchet from New York City. Never heard of this one.

3. Brass Egg Beater valve lapper. I'm having a hard time reading the name as I left my glasses in my friends truck.

4.Schrader tire gauge.

5.Old Gauge. Not sure if its PSI or oil gauge. It goes to 60. I can only get 8 poungs when I blow in it. I like the needle gauge.

6. Box of taps.

Great finds there. To me, the box of taps is the best find. My best recent find was a 10 inch Craftsman table saw sitting by the curb about a year ago. All cast iron made by King Seeley with a double shaft Craftsman 1 horse motor that still worked. My good friend Brian worked as a garage man from 1959 to 1969. You cam imagine the stuff he was getting back then.

The Scout hatchet is quite collectible and they bring decent money.

People scrap because they see no other alternative for getting rid of things.  I don't have that problem
