A friend at work brought me the remnants of his father-in-law's tools.  A Wetzler 6 inch clamp #106, a Wilton 6 inch clamp #406, two Adjustable 4 inch clamps #1440, a Mohawk protractor square, an  Embre square and what is probably a Stanley combination square. A little TLC and rust remover and they should all work well and last another 50 years.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Sweet.  Small C-clamps are really handy; for six inches and up, for my work, an F clamp usually works better, although there are times when the ability of a C-clamp to maneuver over obstacles means I don't turn down any C-clamp I find.

Here is an interesting 7 inch clamp I picked up in a box lot recently.  It is marked Sterns and is obviously old.  There is a spring in the movable section that lets you move it up and down the shaft.

Hello, Coolford. Nice find!!! I think that was made here in Syracuse, NY, by the E C Stearns Co. Here is a photo from a 1924 catalog. Regards, Lou

Iptools----those two pictures are almost a match for the position of the movable jaw.  Thanks for the information.----Coolford

pretty neat.   I wonder if the slot was an earlier or later feature....?

Hello, p_toad. Good eye, there does seem to be a slight difference in the shape of the movable jaw. Slight variation in the forging? Or is it just a trick of the light in the photos? Regards,Lou
