Stanley made a construction set "Stanlo"
« on: July 25, 2018, 10:51:41 PM »
In the 30's Stanley made and sold the Stanlo construction kit line of toys.

This is a number 3 set, about the middle of the line

I bought a box of jig-saw puzzles because one of them was named "Skippy".

this was in the bottom of the box.

"splains why the box was so heavy

That's pretty nifty; and it's interesting how many people have explored that kind of toy.

I just looked: Erector sets are still being made and sold, by (I guess) the original company, Meccano.  If our sons ever get around to producing grandkids, you know what I'll be buying (boy, they're not cheap, though!).

And, of course, Legos cannot get lost; all you have to do to find one that didn't get back in the toy box is to walk through the area at night in bare feet.

Had an Erector set as a child, it was a small one without the motor, think it was a #3 or 4.  Few years ago while looking for tools at a garage sale I picked up a 7 1/2 in great condition with good motor etc. Gave it to my grandson, he wasn't interested, rather play games than bolt things together.  He grew up, gave it back to me.

I like the Stanlo, had never seen one before you put it on the site.

Very neat! I read this toy kept 100 families employed.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

reminds me of the Girder and Panel set my younger brother had back in the 50s.   Nice find.
