G3866 Variations
« on: May 13, 2011, 02:14:06 PM »
I am wondering if anyone knows how many variations of the G3866 are out there? Im talking the big one that came with the Moguls and Titans and such. I have 3 myself and am hoping its not an outrageous 79 or something like the G3170's. I figured out a long time ago that IH in particular loved their variations. There are many other numbers that have many variations but I just picked up these other 2 recently. I have the "S" shaped one with the large lettering and am aware that there is one with the small lettering. The two new ones are straight.

I have the one with large recess and lettering and the logo on left end of recess. Also two copies of one with small recess and lettering and logo on right end of recess. On the small lettered one the (G) looks more like an (8) but the outline of the two wrenchs is identical. Would post a photo but all I'm getting for photos is a red x in a box which precludes photos. Have not seen a straight version.

Heres a picture of the 2 straight ones i picked up. Not the best quality pic but you get the idea. Also, is the L140 in the pic a New Idea or not? Ive only seen them with a raised half box end.

The L140 sure looks like a New Idea wrench.  The M182 wrench I believe to be a Litchfield wrench, sort of an ugly cousin to their beautiful S437 cutout wrench. I would have liked to see an M182 in use to understand the reason for its 90 degree bend near the single open end.
