Yankee hand drill
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:03:06 AM »
I picked her up at a garge sale today for just a buck. Any info on this piece.

It reads 2101-12 1N, on the top horizontal bar.

On the bottom part it reads Yankee 2101 North Bros. Mfg. Co. Div of stanely tools Phila Pa USA

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

This is widely acclaimed to be the best working brace design! At least as far as ratcheting braces!
The ratchet is spectacularly functional and a good strong chuck.
Bell system used them for a generation.

It looks to be a 10" sweep. This is large enough to work a 1 1/4" bit, at least.
