Air powered framing nail guns ?????????????
« on: August 25, 2016, 07:51:18 AM »
Questions ....on framing nail guns
If I have some paslode nails, do I need to have a paslode gun?
If the nail head looks like a 1/4 moon what gun should I be using?
How are the nails classified?

Making it Short : I need some schooling on air driven nailing guns! :undecided:
Thanks.

One online article says a lot of jurisdictions are no longer accepting "clipped" nails - nailheads with partial heads like you have - for framing.  So before buying a gun, if you ever do any work under a permit, find out what's locally true.

Even if you don't, consider that there may be a reason for the code requirement.

But I don't use a powered nail driving device for a living (unless you consider cholesterol-and-grunt power), so take that for what it's worth, which is about two electrons.

We built a deck 10 years ago with clipped head nails. Not a problem since.
Deck had a lot of designs, so there are a lot of joints nailed together.
A used nail gun from the pawn shop did great, had a rebuild a few years later as I let it set for a few years without use or lube.
If for personal use, and no code issues, why not.
