One Snip Closer
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:24:52 PM »
Picked up the big U416 yesterday so I believe I'm only 5 shy for the set.
But I'm sure there's more that I don't know about.
L-R  T47, S47, S49, T412, U412, S413, U416.

I know I need the; S48, S410, S411, S412, & S414.
Know of anymore of these? Oh, these are Crescent snips.

Nice. But you're going to need a bigger display board if you find any more.  :-D
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Ever walk by a vendor and see nothing you're interested in but something just draws you towards them.
Behind a box full of clothes was one tool, an S-412. Talk about luck.

I had that happen just yesterday.  Big box of junk at a garage sale.  Grabbed a 3/8" Snap-on Ferret F-10-H breaker bar for $2 and looked through all else, but found very little.
Looked through the rest of the house, and went back to the garage for another look.  Lying on top of that box was a zip lock bag of wrenches.  Where they came from, I haven't a clue.  But I gave them a look.  Inside, I found 29 old American wrenches plus a Snappy Ferret F-70N in 3/8 from 1939 in good working order.
And a green hinged steel case of hex sockets in 1/2" (the 6 smaller sockets and the ell that fits them are missing).  No name, and I haven't done any detective work.  Indestro, perhaps?
Among the wrenches was a set of 5 Billings LIFE-TIME combo wrenches (7/16 through 11/16) c. late 1940's through early 1960's).
And an ugly little Wilde No. 189 combo in 3/8".  I grab them when I see them because they are from KC, MO. and later moved to Hiawatha here in NE Kansas.
Best of all, I found 4 little Plomb wrenches in great condition.  A 1/2 Pebble combo bettered the one I had in my set and the 7/16 filled in a slot.  I am up to 10 now.  Also found a 3/8 by 7/16 Pebble I can trade--unless I begin a set.  And a wartime Plomb (not WF) combo No. 1212 in 3/8.
As a bonus, I stopped at another place on the way home and scored a $2 lightning hay knife--with good handles.  The handles are usually gone around here from bad weather, but this one is real nice.
So, as the Stop signs sometimes say, around here: Look Again.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.
