Greetings from across the pond

Hello everyone,

I'm a traditional woodworker and amateur blacksmith from Wales. I have a fairly extensive collection of vintage British and Continental carpentry tools and spend a lot of my time restoring what some people see as rusty tat, me personally, I see it as social history. So much gets thrown away in this disposable consumer culture of ours, and I'm on a personal crusade to save as many relics from the past as possible.

I have a large stockpile of vintage automotive tools that when I get a chance, I'll post up here, many will be for sale.

Hi guys,

Thank you for the warm welcome, its always nice to find like minded people. Work is very busy at the moment, but I will try and get some pics loaded up as soon as things quieten down. A lot of the automotive tools are old combi spanners ratchets etc, King Dick, Snail Brand, Gordon and the likes. Mostly British manufacture, some Snap on and European stuff, and a nice old bakerlite inspection lamp.

I share a workshop with another tool hoarder so will show you some of his collection also :) Always good to share the madness.

AWESOME, can't wait to see what you've been working on..... I love anyone that's trying to keep old tools alive, rather then throw them in the scrap yard.... good for you!  Can't wait to talk to you some more

There maybe some non tool collectors who think we are "mad", but I doubt  there is any one on this forum that thinks that!
I agree it might be rusty and neglected but it is social history and it is usualy those closest to those who first owned or made it that think so little of it ???

Hello again folks,

Things here are very busy at the moment, so my apologies for not having posted anything as yet. As well as carpentry and blacksmithing, we do a lot of civil engineering contracts, so the last few weeks have been spent hacking back overgrown footpaths and installing a couple of bridges, but I thought I'd just post this link as a small sample of things to come!

Sorry if the photos are a bit blurry, electronic things and me don't work well together. The lathe can take a 9 ft length of timber and has a max turning dia of approx 26 inches. All I can say is the Dominion is fun, especially when you need the forklift to load the timber!

I'm having a clear out and tidy of the workshop over the next few weeks so will try and get things photographed properly.

Great shop!  Bet that Dominion lathe has a story to tell. We probably would like to see some of the work that it has turned.  Welcome from Wisconsin.
