Title: Estate Sale 6/21/2024
Post by: Yadda on June 21, 2024, 07:36:06 PM
Today's estate sale buy.  The socket set is a Hinsdale TL10.  The DBE wrench is a Lectrolite Defiance.  The 12-inch adjustable is a Williams Superadjustable.  The tap handle is a Greenfield No. 6. Hidden right in the middle is an early Craftsman 1/4 breaker bar.

Is that a Starrett Plumb Bob? Filled or solid steel?

Wow!  Good eye! I didn't realize it was a Starrett until I did a little cleaning.  It is a Starrett  No. 87. It isn't solid.

Hello , Yadda . The drive plugs in the Hinsdale box are a great find! Are they marked?

If it is an 87, it should be mercury filled unless somebody emptied it. If you shake it you should be able to feel the mercury moving inside. I think the hex top ones were later production, so they didn't roll when you set them down.

Hello , Yadda . The drive plugs in the Hinsdale box are a great find! Are they marked?

The 1/2 drive is marked "Made in U.S.A." . The 3/8 plug isn't marked. The Ratchet on the far left was also included, but was made in China so it was original.to the set.  I believe I have a Hinsdale Plug style ratchet.  Now I need to find it.
