Wrench came with Deere & Mansur Corn Planters. Nothing to do with steam. Deere didn't make any steam powered equipment..

Would it be for a 1940's gasoline "tractor" corn planter, or a 1850's walk-behind "horse" corn planter, no steam in between ?  :cheesy:

I think Deere & Mansur est. 1850's? merged into Deere and co. about 1910 so I would think later tool versions would be marked Deere and co., or John Deere.

Yes they did make steam plows in the 1880's I think. I should have said tractors.
I have never seen a parts list for a Deere steam plow but this wrench is in a 1901 D&M parts books for "New Deere Corn Planters". The wrench is fairly common so they may have continued them as long as the corn planters were made. Dill's John Deere Tool List doesn't show a wrench for a steam plow, if one exists it would be rare and expensive.

I don't know if Deere made steam tractors, but I'm guessing old Deere plows were pulled by all kinds of Mules/Horses and Steam Tractors before gasoline.
