It's an old alcohol torch. Only thing missing is the snuffer/cap. Good buy for someone!

I believe that is a Carleton Co. "Spartan" alcohol torch. If so the air tube will be rectangular, Brach Mfg. Corp also marketed an identical torch under name "Soderall"

Patent was awarded 1921.

There would have been a rubber tube that fitted the metal air tube, the torch is lit and the operator blows gently in the rubber tube, this gives a intense flame at the tip. These torches were popular with jewelers.

I own a Spartan but I would be interested if it were something different.

There should be some makers marks on the front of this torch.

MR. BATZ, The square copper/brass rod that runs up the side is solid t kinda thought that being heated by the flame expanded the alcophol in the tank making gas to feed the light
under some green I found victor alcohol  torch  patented I bet this would clean up nice. too bad the shipping was so costly  bob w.

on second look the tube is a tube when you clean the green off the ends    MY BAD
Maybe I should try to clean and investigate farther. I am finding a lot of stuff that was put away years ago   bob w

Could you have a look at what size/cost flat rate box it would fit in for me? Or perhaps it would be cheaper to pack it yourself.

The US postal website will give you an idea to shipping costs to Australia.

The rod should be a tube, the hole is small.

Cheers
