First nice weekend in Fl !!

I have been waiting all summer for this !!!!  I happen to have Friday off also...  life is good !!

And the elderly gent I wrote about the other day had two boxes for sale that evening... bought one that night.
so I went back Thursday evening and purchased the other one.
I figure these dont come around very often, so I jumped.

It's a C. E. Jennings box, no key and it's missing the brass dohickey that actuates the drawer lock.
Other than that, it's looks OK.

I bought a piece of brass angle from the gent today to try and use. He told me to come back if it didnt work, he's got a drawer full of brass pieces.

I don't get out much but the CE Jennings boxes I have seen were for their wood boring bits,  any sign of dividers in there?   Maybe a spot on top for a pair of brace drills?   You really did OK.

No dividers, just a well used box. Pushed the budget a little to buy two boxes, but as I said, they dont come by often.

Oh, THAT dohicky.  A wear plate thingee.  Shouldn't be hard, like the fellow said.  If you don't have the right size I can probably supply you the necessary steel or brass slot head screws.

As I said, it was a good weekend...

There an Armstrong wrap , misc Cman wrenches and a SK.
Disston and Morse level, Fulton draw knife and a Williams wrench for a sleeve bar (?).
Tape with local advertising (I like to grab when reasonable), 2 wood or leather tools
and a brass dohickey.
The SK box was the result of being one of the first people at this particular sale. I asked how much and he quotes me $3, so I asked if he would sell me a small tackle box for a total of $5. and he agreed. The reciprocating saw in the bottom of the SK, the rst was from the little box.
Theres a no name square drive ratchet, Thorsen 1/2 breaker. Miller Falls screwdriver and a small lock. Thats an Oxwall set with extension, first I've seen. The small SK box has Indestro Select, Duro Chrome, SK Chrome sockets and 5 at the bottom are Duro Chrome refrigeration sockets !  The breaker bar has no markings but is very similar to an SK.

Those knives are for linoleum block printing -- they cut the pattern in the lino.

Those are both sweet boxes! You will be able to fins a couple of ring pulls just like the ones you need for the missing drawer, but oh ho will you pay! Last I was were 12 bucks apiece!
 Jennings made a lot of smaller sized tools and your box was probably a gents carving tool outfit originally (guessing). Carving chisels and a drawknife and the usual carving stuff.

 That Fulton drawknife looks to be a decen tknife (for once). Sears "Fulton" often sold second quality tools, even in 1900.  But sometimes they were first class.
  The Speedball linoleum "woodblock" engraving tools included some ridiculously small carving chisels.  Like in gouges on the order of 1/32 inch! Teeny tiny stuff. Super detail for the printing blocks.
