Did Someone Say Cooper's Adze?
« on: June 30, 2013, 08:02:32 PM »
No? Maybe it was me that said it. Anyway, here is a group of coopers' adzes from the latest tool acquisition I mentioned in a previous post. The one that is second from left, with the imprint on the handle, is, I believe, 18th century.

Must have been a collector, Lynn. I don't see very many of those in Texas.

He was a collector, Noel, and also had a booth at a local antique mall for a while. I have, however, found a few cooper's adzes in the wild over the years, but not this many in one whack.
There are quite a few other unusual tools in this group. I'll post more pictures as time allows. That Hewett wrench I showed in another post was in this group, as well as quite a few implement wrenches, older nut wrenches, Perfect Handle screwdrivers of various sizes, some interesting hammers, etc. I wish I could get all of y'all here at one time just to be able to sell off the wrenches (cheap). Lots of DOE that I can't even begin to catalog.
