Yesterday's Finds (Cont'd)
« on: July 17, 2011, 05:49:26 PM »
I salvaged one more thing from the boxes of "also won" tools from yesterday's auction.  I had to clean it up, but I like it. It's what I would call an adjustable nut driver. You push on it, and 6 steel fingers close up snug around a hex nut.  The knurled ring is for holding the shaft steady while turning.  The patent number is 3,339,439.

Quick Overview (from on-line source)

- Automatically fits 15 different nut and screw sizes;
- Hex head adjusts to the proper size as you turn it; and
- Will drive or loosen hex nuts from 1/4" (6.4 mm) to 7/16" (11.1 mm), hex-head   screws from No. 6 to 1/4" (6.4 mm), and socket-head cap screws from No. 8 to 5/16" (7.9 mm)
