They are marked Metric because they are "adjustable metric wrenches".

But is *is* metric.
For all those old time mechanics with boxes full of fractional wrenches, the metric bolts were the "size in between" that nothing would fit...except the adjustable....

metric has caused more swearing than empty beer fridges on sunday nights...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Back when, I found that my worn out standard sockets would fit some metric,  made it necessary to keep them around.
