Hudson Forge - Lakeside Forge-File handle

(1/1)

Lostmind:
Found these two under six items this weekend
The wooden caliper may have been an advertising piece?
I did find that they made other wood items.

The pliers are not dated , but they started in buisness around 1906

I'm calling the other piece a file handle?I just liked the way it was made

The file handle is actually a small screwdriver handle. Stanley packed their 45 combination planes with one just like it.  But everybody in the turn screw business made a similar driver.
It had a flat blade. Flat as is all the way into the handle. flat.

If the handle looks like this, you gotta call 'em "turnscrews" but that sure is a screwdriver handle.  Those handles are comfortable; you can press down hard without digging a hole in your palm.

The calliper may have been *used* as an advertising piece, but it was made as a pocket calliper and sold commercially.  I've had a couple over the years.  Really useful.  Kept using them until I got a steel calliper the same size.
