First one looks to be a pair of cranked side cutting pliers - used for cutting something flush with a surface, without your hand getting in the way - e.g. the ends of protruding nails or brads, e.g. inside a shoe??? No 2 looks like a wheel nut brace of some sort...

Follow the link. They have decided the pliers are just that- for cutting off nail heads inside shoes.

I think the one with the handle pointing back at you, must be for winding your self back up;o)

the handle may be for holding a nut in back of a gear or pully while you losen/tighyen the bolt from the front   bob w.

Sellens Dictionary of Leatherworking Tools calls them Manchester pattern shoe nippers for cutting off nails inside of shoes and boots before you install the insole.

I just picked up a pair of the pliers at the Tupper Lake FM last week end.  They are marked USMC for the United Shoe Machinery Co.  Also have a pair of Sargent's that have a compound leverage action, but are about the same length and shape.  I had no idea what they were for until I read this thread.  Thanks Papaw!!

This morning I have been looking at some Ford Model "T" tools because I think I bought some this past weekend.  Any ways that bottom wrench that points back at the handle looks very much like the Model T carburetor flange wrench shown in one of the Model T tool forums I was looking at.

I don't think that there is room for it on the carb flange, but it would be dandy for retightening the manifold studs while the engine is hot.
