Eifel Geared Plierench brochure
« on: August 08, 2012, 09:34:23 PM »
Scan(s) of a brochure that came with an old Eifel plier-wrench I bought. It was heavily soaked with oil, hence the "see-thru" effect on some of the pages.

My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.

Thank you plierman!  Good old advertising copy, and ... Who knew these did so many jobs?  Now we both need to find the rest of the jaws for our Geared PlieRench Kits.  Looks like you have the pipe jaw,  while I have the 4 way groove jaw.

WOW! Thanks Plyerman.  Reading this was like listening to the gadget pitchmen at the woodworkers show.  This guy knew how to pitch a product. "Corner grips hold as if welded on.....". Thanks for the scans.

Branson, there is no I in Plyerman.

Great scan of a fascinating leaflet. There is no i in Plyerman's name but the "pliers" were made by the " American Plierench Corp'n". Did they forget to put in the W also? English is a funny fellow, ever tried to read old English!

Thanks for the scan.   There was a thread awhile ago about these.  Maybe on the old site?  I remember reading that the man was a master promoter & salesman.  Actuall is a usable tool.

Plier/plyer is one of the many variable words when you go back a bit, not as far as old english, just to the early 1800's you will see oddities in word spellings.

They might have come with a plow or a plough..

Another peculiar thing is that pliers changes back and forth between being a singular object to a quasi plural object...(design for a pair of pliers / design for a pliers)

(I still have not the slightest clue why one plier constitutes a pair..)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I know this is a necrobump, but does anyone have better pictures from one of these?  What I mean by better is the photobucket watermark picture is something I do not want when i print out a personal copy of this brochure for my own records.

Does anyone have nay more of the brochures they could scan.  I cannot find these anywhere online and would like to do some research.  Now if I could travel 8000+ miles to Africa, one of the libraries in Zimbabwe has a hard copy of one, but that's a bit far!
Thanks for any help!

Perhaps Plyerman can send you the files without the watermark.

Let me check.  I may have this particular brochure. Will be the weekend before I can check.
You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

Well that is odd - when I view the scans above I do not see the Photobucket watermark. Is it just me or are the watermarks gone?
