oliver or ohio cultivator

jimwrench:
Can someone positively ID this wrench? Appears to be Oliver per page 360 of Rathbone vol 1 and Ohio Cultivator per Rathbone vol 2 page 223. It has same outline as Planet Jr. No.3 but has eight square holes. Seems to be No.9 as per photo.

Bus:
There are several Planet Jr. type wrenches with different numbers. The Oliver is #40 and the Ohio Cultivator is #E507. Yours is an "orphan", no ID yet. I wish Pete would of labeled the wrench pictures with the correct numbers it would of saved a lot of confusion with "look a likes".

jimwrench:
Thanks for the numbers Bus;copied them into my Rathbones. Also noticed same wrench marked (10) in Empire Plow Co. wrenchs looks identical to my wrench except number difference. Marked in same spot so I'm wondering if it could be Empire with different size. Haven't found anything on the Empire wrench so can't compare size. From picture it looks like same casting pattern.

Bus:
May be an Empire but it hasn't been found in any Empire Parts Lists so far. Besides the 9, 10, 40 and E507 there is a B10 and a few few others of this style. Wm E. Pratt had a No. 7365 in their catalog (see Rathbone Vol One page 385) and may of made the others marked with the implement companies own part numbers

I would still classify your 9 (or 6) as an orphan till a parts lists shows up listing it.

jimwrench:
Agree he's an orphan. Sure wish I knew who poured him.
