Hi. This is a little different than post postings in that I don't have the tools, only the box they once resided in. The old tool box has cut-outs in the bottom where certain tools where once placed. Can you name the tools based on the shapes. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to Tool Talk!

Sure someone here will have more ideas than I have. rather crude cut-outs, but looks like maybe a stonemasons set of hammers and a chisel? The fork thing doesn't fit that though.

Anything on the exterior of the box?   Depth of the sides, could give us another clue.  The oak in this box, tells me 1920s or earlier, but I have no clue, thats only the second time today!

The forked piece may be the bottom stand, the t-shaped space, for a t-handle allen wrench to tighten  the long piece upright in the stand for some work function. Maybe to test or work on something auto or machine tool related????????

There's nothing stamped or written on the exterior. Most of the paint on the top of the box is gone but there is quite a bit left on the bottom. It's a light turquoise color, dovetailed, leather strap handle, brass snap. I will try and post some more pics when I get home today.

Thank you for all of your replies.

Dimensions would be useful.  The forked space makes me think end nippers.  The T shape could be for an Allen wrench, or for a gimlet.  The hammer shaped depression eludes me.

I was thinking gimlet or tapered reamer for the T-shape.  I have no clue on the other shapes.

Need more pic's with different views and the dimensions.

Considering the placement of the leather strap for the case, I wonder what held the articles in position when the box was picked up?

I would guess for someone's personal items in a machine shop.

(The two rounded long depressions at right angles are simply finger clearance to pick up the items.)
