similar to an old whatsit
« on: January 17, 2012, 06:58:09 AM »
A while back a whatsit was posted (by papaw I think) and I don't remember anyone figuring out what it was. I just wasted a half hour looking for it but couldn't find it to make a comparison to this tool. I wonder if the old one was maybe something like this riveting tool but was missing some part(s). anyone remember that one? Anyway, here's this one.

I don't think I posted it, but can't remember them all. Looks like a plain riveter to me.

If I remember right it was one that someone had sent you a picture of and asked you to identify it. I will find it when I have a little more time.

It's a rivet press. Could be used for leather, or brake pads (back in the day).

Found it. Not even close. I hadn't remembered that it was finally figured out. All I could remember was the big long handle and that is where the similarity ends. Nevermind.
