One thing is clearly obvious.....  I missed out on most of the wonderful, groundbreaking performances from so many groups, classical, big band, country, bluegrass, oldies, rock and roll, folk, reggae, Celtic, r and b, and god forbid, rap music (sure a a lot of you won't like me for that claim....  but, listen to some lyrics, and you just may change your minds) ...  and, let's face it... everything before, during, and after the music groups and genres I'm mentioning.
As odd and different as music genres can be, they all conform to a metronome.  In my view, if you can count at a steady pace, all music will come to you.... whether you want it or not.
At the risk of sounding like a completely insane person.....  music is more important than most things.  Music has a beat which responds to a culture, it has words or sharps and flats  that render words unnecessary, it mimics the present times while reminded us that the music hasn't ever changed very much.

There's a lot of different forms of communication but music is absolutely the purest one.  Duane Allman
