Wanted - Williams Superrench DOE Ribbed Style
« on: December 23, 2011, 06:50:37 PM »
The collection continues.  I haven't reposted this to the new ToolTalk, so here it is.  I'm still searching for the rest of the Williams Superrench DOE ribbed style.  Out of the 46 wrenches in the set, I currently have 40!  I need your help finding the last 6 wrenches.  The following wrenches are still MIA:
1027C
1028
1037A
1039B
1040
1041B

An example of this style is located here:  http://home.comcast.net/~alloy-artifacts/Photos/tools/williams_oe2022_a1027b_wrench_ribbed_f_cropped_inset.jpg

Show off your set if you have pics! It's always nice to see a collection.

I think I'm in for a long haul tracking down these last 6 wrenches.  It's been nearly a year since I last purchased one until this past week when I found two!  I suspect it will be another year or more before the next one comes along.

I didn't know a thing about these wrenches until my FIL gave me a bag of misc tools with a small one in it.  Thought it might be neat to put together a set of 8 or 12.  After all, how big could the set be, right?  Well, when I found out there are 46 I was amazed and challenged!  They are out there.  Just need to stay vigilant.

I have a small one.  I'll check what size and number it is this week.

I've been searching for Bonney tools to complete my set, and I'm down to the last wrench or two. Been at it 7 years now, these last two are going to take a while.

I believe one of the reasons they are fairly rare is because they are mostlyfound in industrial settings.  They were not marketed in retail stores.  Mostly through industrial suppliers from what I've found.  It's likely the ones I see out there now are the ones that came home in somebody's pocket or lunch pail from work 40 years ago.  The odd-ball sizes just don't exist.

The one I have came from an estate sale of a retired engineer.  He had quality tools, mostly snap on from the mid 50's, that had little to no use.  Is that about the same time period for these wrenches?

Was just looking and saw one on garage journal.  Then I scrolled down and saw you already got that one. Congrats.

They were made in the early to mid 50's.  Williams is now part of Snap On.
