An Odd Little Item
« on: May 24, 2011, 11:57:34 PM »
This one is a complete mystery to me. I found it at the swap in a box of junk. Any reasonable person would have just walked on by. Instead I dug, bargained and bought. There are a couple other items I'll likely post on the site in the near future that came out of that box too.

It articulates some. Here it is in the collapsed state.

Here it is in the expanded state. No springs so I am guessing whatever it's supposed to fit into forces the parts into alignment.

The reverse side.

The only markings are the name Mastercraft

And the wonderful descriptive name of Adjustomatic and Italy.

Any guesses?

Mastercraft is the house brand name for tools sold by "Canadian Tire" They only operate in Canada. Stores that sell automotive, tools, sporting goods and housewares.
Never seen a tool like that but in a week or so will be at one of their stores and will check.

Looks like a pipe reamer to me, but whether for small diameter pipe or a smoking pipe, I don't know.
WAGs, I know.

No reasonable people here.

No pictures came through for me.

Mastercraft is the house brand of Canadian Tire as Neals said, but it is also a trade name for a smoking pipe manufacturer....I suspect the tool in question is a tobacco pipe cleaning tool. ...Rob

Since when is a pipe nail not good enough for cleaning a pipe bowl?
