Graphite Platen for Belt Sander
« on: February 25, 2025, 02:39:02 AM »
I'm using these Graphite Platens with my Belt Sanders. I got em overlaying the steel platens. They're from PEC Friction Fighters Corporation. Cutting down friction; reducing heat and wear on the interior of the belt.
They got em for 3" and 4" belt sanders. A PSA Graphite Platen is available for Makita 9903 and 9403. PSA stands for Pressure Sensitive Adhesion. I had to look that up. I'd venture to say they'd be OK for other 3 and 4 Inch models. 1st and second photos were provided by Friction Fighters.
They also offer the Graphite Platen in bulk rolls priced by the yard; 3" and 4" width. You need a Steel Strap Washer; 3rd picture. You can get for a Makita. The one for the 4" 9403 fits my Porter Cable 368; #4 picture.
My 4" Makita  9401; picture #5.
Last picture #6; My old Milwaukee 4" 5910
No matter how much you cut off, it's still too short
