Estate Sale Buy - 2/15/2025
« on: February 17, 2025, 07:40:23 PM »
Saturday's estate sale buy.  Craftsman 11 inch F style adjustable (monkey) wrench (44491), Vise-Grip 7R  Craftsman chain pipe wrench.  Craftsman regular and deepwell sockets, a few Snap-On and New Britain sockets, two vintage church keys, a very rusty spoke shave, and a Swiss made Zyliss multi vise.

Hello, Yadda . Nice haul! With all of that Craftsman stuff you found , I'm guessing the spokeshave is a Dunlap.

And indeed, I have a Dunlap shave that, if memory serves, looks very similar.  The loop handles would have saved a bit on the cost of the iron - even back then, value engineering was a thing, even if the term didn't exist.

Looks very similar if not exactly like the Dunlap.  The only real difference is there is no name on the blade screw.

Yadda,

Is the blade marked?  On Stanley shaves, that's often the only indication of the brand.

And Sears may not have been consistent year to year with features like marking the clamping screw.

Hi Bill,

No marks on the blade. I was hoping, but nothing.  I agree Sears was not consistent with their branding.
