Osaka Tanko 8" Adjustable
« on: April 20, 2023, 07:44:07 PM »
I bought this wrench mainly because of the poor condition. Completely covered with rust, jaws and adjuster both stuck/frozen. I put it in the tumbler for about 4 hours, it came out clean, but jaws and adjuster were still frozen. After a good soak in Kroil, some gentle persuasion with a hammer and wedges, it broke free. I was then able to do a more detailed cleaning. I believe the Circle T is Osaka Tanko, ( Thanks Alloy Artifacts) , but I could not find a picture or description of this wrench. The adjuster drops into slots on the side of the head, and engages in 2 slots to hold it captive to engage the jaw teeth. Has anyone else seen one of these? Thanks, Lou

That's a new one for me, never seen or heard of them.

Hello, gibsontool. The only info I have is from Alloy Artifacts. Most likely the correct name is Osaka Forging.

Is the worm screw adjuster axle a solid pin that screws into the main housing?

The adjuster has a pin on each end, it just drops in & lifts out of the main housing! If you take a close look at the last 2 photos they show the adjuster where it is engaged, and where it lifts out!

Are the pins spring loaded like a watch band pin? I have several 4-inch crescent style wrenches that have spring loaded pins and the wrenches are quick adjust. You pull the worm screw back away from the moveable jaw teeth and you can slide the jaw without turning the worm screw, the worm screw stays captive in the wrench.

What you have there is Oswego Tool of NY. It’s listed next to the Japanese mfr. on AA.

Hello, 3baygarage. I stand corrected. Oswego Tool looks like the right one.  I found a catalog description of the construction of this wrench, and it matches what I have here. Makes more sense, too, Oswego NY, is not far from where I bought the wrench in Fulton NY. Thanks for the info!!
