Gary,
Well, I didn't find any tools when I was on Oahu for a week, many years ago.  There was a large flea market in the Aloha Stadium.  What island are you planning to visit?  I've heard from a navy vet who, until recently, owned a home on Oahu that there is a big increase in crime on the island.  I think she would have stayed there forever otherwise.  I don't want to be discouraging, just want you to be safe.
We were there 24 years ago.  It was probably the best vacation we ever had.  We visited Diamond Head, Eternity Beach, went to a Luau, snorkeled at Kahana Bay, visited the USS Bowfin submarine, ate great food, drank Mai-Tais, sat by the pool every morning and the sea every afternoon.
Hope your knee heals quickly.  I use one of those padded supports when my knee acts up.

Thanks al
My wife and I are going to big island
We chartered the kona cowboy sport fishing boat for a full day and and chartered a bus for a full day to take us around the island and we are going to take a ride on the submarine for 2 hrs or so to see what the bottom of ocean looks like and we might tale a helicopter ride also we are staying at a nice resort right on the ocean and it sounds like it's a nice safe place on the island where we are at but you never know I guess when it comes to safety.
