MILWAUKEE HOLE SHOOTER USA
« on: March 27, 2022, 07:04:16 PM »
Back in 2007, I bought a 1/2" Magnum Hole Shooter Drill, 0234-1 type 532C. I was in a small way sort of proud. But some time later, I came across internet talk saying, if you have a 532B it's made in USA, but a 532C is from China.

As the years passed, every time I used it I remembered it was Chinese. It just wouldn't go away.

Then not long ago, I was searching online auction and here was a 0234-6, 532C. And on the Nameplate it was printed made in china.

My drill doesn't say where it was made. I looked into things. I found this;  MILWAUKEE NAMEPLATE SERIALIZATION.

My 0234-1 has a serial number 532C507111319. I don't know what or where KDS is, but the 5 after the C means it was made there in the USA. And the 07 after that 5 is the year I bought it.

I don't know why the Chinese Hole Shooter has a 6 after the 0234, instead of 1. But that ain't my problem, I'm just happy to know mine is US made.

This 3/8" 0224-1 I got about three years ago. It hasn't been made for years. Serial number is 574B497440326. So it was manufactured in BLY(?) in 1997.

Does anyone know why Jacobs stopped making their chuck with this sort of clover leaf opening for the jaws?

Hello, Model12. I have a Milwaukee 1/2" Hole Shooter, the chuck is stamped Milwaukee, no letters in the serial number. Can't remember exactly when I bought it, maybe in the 80's, from an Industrial Supply House.  No doubt made in USA, nameplate reads;  Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. Brookfield Wis. USA. Still running strong!!

Does it look any different, as in more Aluminum? I favor the slower speed like it has. Did you notice how they increased the speed a few years back to 950?
