Stopped in Auburn 2nd hand shop on way home

Nothing too exciting but inexpensive.  An S-K 1/4 drive box with 3/8 drive sockets.  Tool marked "VLCHEK" (with quotes) and CLEV"D.  Is this a brake tool?  If so for what vehicle?

Brake adjuster tool for about any car or light truck, 60s on back.  However if one end is pointy, it is probably a cotter pin tool.  The pointy end to pull the cotter-key, the blade end to spread the legs of the key once installed.

That’s a very cool S-K box. Prewar, probably around 1942. If the sockets are 12 point they may be original to the box.

Those cotter pin tools are one of those tools in the box you hardly ever use, but they are handy when you need them.

Thanks Don.  They are 12 point, so I have half the sockets needed.  Can you tell me what sizes I'm missing?  I have 3/8,7/16, 1/2 and the big one is 11/16.  Maybe new member Jim Bowie has the decal for the lid.

They should be 3/4”, 11/16”, 5/8” longs and 9/16”, 1/2”, 7/16 and 3/8” intermediate length. I have an extra 5/8” intermediate in my set just so it looks full but it’s not original. The 12 point sockets are quite early so they are harder to find.

Don,  You have an extra 5/8 socket in the set.  So which are you actually missing?  I will be looking at a couple places soon and maybe I will find the correct one.

Thanks for the offer. I’m not actually missing any. The original set didn’t come with a 5/8” intermediate length socket so there is a gap from the factory.

OK.  I see now.  I'm making a list of sockets I need and planning a stop at Tom's Bargain Stop where they have bins full of (mostly junk) sockets, (but hoping to find some good ones}.  I need a few for the shop's toolbox as well, and those don't need to match anything.
