Stanley Handyman No. 1247 Block Plane
« on: October 23, 2021, 03:15:06 PM »
My neighbor gave me this Stanley bock plane. It was in his garage when it caught fire.  Not burned, but it was covered in soot and rusted.  I’m midway through the cleaning process and now that I can post photos again I thought I would share. These photos are after an initial wash and scrub. I didn’t get a before photo.

This is after wire brushing and some sanding.

The scrubbing I get, but how do you wag it?  Tape it to your dog's tail?

Looking pretty clean.  Is that the renumbering of what was originally the No. 110, or is it somehow different from the 110?

Darn auto correct. Wash and scrub somehow became wag and scrub. I think this is bigger than the 110.  I'll measure and let you know.

Known in some circles as "Auto Corrupt."

The Stanley Handyman 1247 is a less expensive version of the 110 block plane clone. It is 7 1/8 inches long  I also have a Stanley Handyman 1249.  It appears to be a 120 block plane clone. The 1249 is 6 5/8 inches long. In the photo the 1247 is on top.
